What do I need before I start a bursary application?

1. Your ID document or passport or birth certificate

If you have your ID document, use it as you will need it later on in the bursary process.

 

2. Proof of Address

You will need your proof of address to continue.

If I live with my Parent/Guardian, do I use their Proof of Address?

Yes. Please use your Parent/Guardian's proof of address

What if I'm over 18?

Use your proof of address that you need to open a bank account.

 

3. Academic Results

Depending on your age and what you are applying for, you will need all your academic results available to date. For example:

If I'm in High School applying for undergraduate funding? Use your latest available academic transcript. Therefore if you apply at the start of the year, the previous year's completed Grade 11 script. If you are applying in the middle or end of the year, your latest available Grade 12 marks for all your subjects.
If I'm already undergraduate looking at another undergrad/postgrad opportunity? You will need your year end Grade 12 academic transcript. If you apply at the start of the year, the previous year's completed script with modules and marks. If you are applying in the middle or end of the year, your latest available marks for all your current undergraduate modules.
What If I took a gap year after High School?
Use your year end Grade 12 academic transcript.
 

4. Proof of income

You will need your parent or guardian's proof of income. Use the table below for more detailed guidance:

What do I do if my parent/guardian is unemployed? Please attach an affidavit stating that they are unemployed.
What do I do if my parent/guardian is self-employed? Please attach an affidavit stating their income and that they are self-employed.
